Helping Hand Home Templates
from a Pro-Bono Campaign by GSD&M
Our internship cohort was tasked with producing a pro-bono campaign for Helping Hand Home for Children, a non-profit that provides foster & adoption services in Texas.
As GSD&M’s Design & Communications Intern, I worked with the team on expanding Helping Hand Home’s color palette & standardizing the platform assets into a unified system for posting on social media platforms.
The Adobe designs were converted to Canva editable templates, providing a turnkey solution for our client.

Inspired Color Expansion
On our site visit to Helping Hand Home’s headquarters, we encountered strong color implementations that were ready to be integrated into a system. Starting with the “HHH Core” color, the working palette was expanded nine-fold.
Optimized for AccessibilityColor decisions were not made lightly—we formulated a high-contrast pairing conforming to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), ensuring accessible legibility without sacrificing design intent.
Built for Variation
Varied social feeds perform better. To equip our client for success, designs for most content buckets were provided with both varied arrangements and light/dark options. This empowers the client to effortlessly create a varied feed.
Recurring Posts SimplifiedOur review of Helping Hand Home’s social media presence found 3 key content buckets to provide variable templates for: Employee of the Month, Community Spotlights, and Success Stories. Each bucket contains stylistic alternates.
“Fostering the Facts” Post Series
Our strategy brief found that many people who are eligible to foster don’t realize they are, so this recurring series provides Helping Hand Home with an opportunity to expand their reach with their services.
“From a Foster Parent” Post Series
Our research also indicated that many who are considering fostering have misconceptions about the experience itself, so this recurring series includes testimonials from current foster parents sharing the joy of fostering.
“Metamorphosis” Post Series
Fostering and adoption services provide tremendous opportunities for growth and healing. This recurring series focuses on that metamorphosis, with testimonials from foster children that are now adults.
Turnkey Delivery
To ensure our designs are easy to implement after hand-off, each template was carefully recreated in Canva. This brought the best of both worlds: robust Adobe tools for ideation, with drag & drop Canva tools for execution.
