3D Printed Felt Molds Polyester & Wool Appliqué
Achieving purity of sculpted form is difficult in woven or knitted textiles, but it is possible by felting loose fiber in a specified mold.In this project, a series of molds were 3D-printed to explore applying digital fabrication methods to textile production.
Mold Fabrication Workflow: Adobe Illustrator, Rhino, PLA 3D PrinterColoration Process: Acid Dyeing (for wool)Felting Process: Needle felted polyester core in custom mold, then needle felted carded & dyed wool on surface
